About the company
College roommates Shivani and Harnehmat, bonded by their mutual affection for handwritten correspondence, fostered a tradition of exchanging letters and postcards throughout their academic years. Their enthusiasm led them to establish a modest stall for postcard writing at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad during October 2013, coinciding with World Post Day. The overwhelming response sparked their vision to inspire others to embrace the timeless allure of the written word amidst the digital age. They aim to create a space for handwritten communication, advocating for its significance in fostering connections, patience, and clarity of thought. Their mission is to establish the largest global platform dedicated to celebrating and promoting the art of letter writing in the 21st century, with a particular focus on making India a leader in revitalizing the practice of handwritten letters. Through their initiatives, they strive to cultivate a culture of “Digital Detox” nationwide, encouraging individuals to slow down and savour the experience of penning heartfelt messages. Their goal is to steadily expand Daakroom’s presence across the country, fostering a nationwide celebration of the enduring charm of letter writing.
